The peaceful city of Kakinada, known by sobriquets such as ‘Fertilizer City’, ‘Pensioner's Paradise’, and ‘Second Madras’, houses the centralised kitchen of The Akshaya Patra Foundation in a radius of 12 kilometres. The kitchen was established in December 2015 and was inaugurated by S. Aleem Basha, Municipal Commissioner of Kakinada.

Raw materials such as vegetables and fruits are purchased daily to ensure freshness. All raw materials are inspected and certified by the quality officers.
The utensils and equipment in the kitchen are sanitized by chlorination and hot water sterilization.
